Yevgeny Yevtushenko

Poet; also writer,editor, screenwriter, and playwright -- via the BBC. AKA Yevgeny Gangnus. His epic 1961 poem "Babi Yar" was the first Soviet artwork to acknowledge the Holocaust, and continuing anti-Semitism in Russia. It was set to music by Shostakovich in his Symphony No. 13.
