Gene 'Stick' Michael
Pivotal Yankees figure; former MLB shortstop, then coach, scout, manager, and general manager -- via MLB. He revived the Yankees' farm system and acquired the Core Four -- Rivera, Pettitte, Jeter, and Posada; and traded for Paulie O'Neill. All this set up the Yankee dynasty of the 1990s. N.B.: Michael was also master of the hidden-ball trick, pulling off five times in his career as a player.
