Alan Rickman
A great actor in film, on stage and TV -- via the Guardian. Gifted with intensity, he made a career of playing baddies such as Snape in the Harry Potter movies, Gruber in "Die Hard," and the Sheriff of Nottingham in the otherwise woeful Costner "Robin Hood." He could do much more, and did in films such as "Truly, Madly, Deeply" and "Galaxy Quest."
