Jack Hammer

Songwriter, singer, dancer, and pianist -- via Soul Source. AKA Earl Solomon Burroughs, Earl Burroughs, Early S. Burroughs, George Stone, T.T. Tyler. He's co-credited for writing "Great Balls of Fire," but only wrote the title. Paul Case commissioned the song from Hammer for inclusion in the 195 film "Jamboree." Case liked the title but not the song. He gave the title to Otis Blackwell, who wrote another song entirely. He and Hammer split the royalties.

However, Hammer wrote songs such as "Fuyijama Mama," "Rock 'n' Roll Call," "Peek-a-Boo" and others. He performed and recorded a lot as well -- "The Kissin' Twist" and "The Wiggle," and he plays backup on Lenny Bruce's 1958 "Psychopathia Sexualis." He did impressions, he was known in Europe as "The Twistin' King," and he later performed in "Bubbling Brown Sugar" on Broadway.
