Great comics artist, writer, and animator -- via Comic Book Resources. What a genius. His retro-nouveau, Populuxe-influenced visuals were distinctly his own, and extremely stimulating to the eye! I was lucky enough to be editing a newspaper when DC sent us his "New Frontier" series. It triggered a host of long-repressed DC memories in me, having made mine Marvel religiously since about 1966 or so. It kick-started my personal revival of interest in comics and graphic novels, an immensely rewarding field of study that has vastly increased my storytelling and visual/spatial IQ.
His scripting is even stronger, embracing contradiction and ambiguity without going all glum like a teenager -- really telling a complex story in a compelling way. It's a damned shame -- he was younger than me.
