Pioneering rock and rockabilly guitarist; he was there at the beginning -- via the Memphis Commercial Appeal. He was there, playing with Elvis, on June 5, 1954, when they did an uptempo blues called "That's All Right, Mama," a landmark of rock. Moore played on all the early Elvis recordings, and produced any as well. He incorporated the picking style of Chet Atkins into the rock 'n' roll mix. He swung the Gibson ES-295, then the L5, then the Super 400 -- all of them, in his hands, termed "the guitar that changed the world." His smooth approach and introverted personality made him somewhat invisible, but he is one of contemporary music's key figures.
