Lawrence Colburn

Colburn with Do Ba, who he plucked from a pile of dead and rescued at My Lai.
Hero -- via ABC News. One of the three men who halted the My Lai massacre during the Vietnam War. Along with pilot Hugh Thompson and crew chief Glenn Andreotta, gunner Colburn put themselves physically between American troops and the unarmed civilians they were attempting to murder. To stand up to atrocity and defend the defenseless in the heat of battle is just about the bravest thing I can think of.
