I am terribly saddened to learn today of Maria’s passing. I met her at LACC in 1970 and we dated briefly. She had a childlike innocence that made you want to go yo the park with her snd ride the swings. She was jolted back into my life when I was shot at Elysian Park in 1971 by the LAPD. I ended up in her arms in a van as I was taken to the hospital. She later testified at my trial. She became the Florence Nightingale of my novel Pure Orange Sunshine which I shared with her in 2012. She loved it. We never got to see each other and now never again will. And that brings a tear to my eye.
