Leon Russell

Songwriter, performer, pianist, and arranger -- via Reuters. A giant, and one of the century's best songwriters, I think. He wrote "A Song for You," "This Masquerade," "Delta Lady," "Tight Rope," "Superstar," "Everybody Loves a Clown," "She's Just My Style," and the hilarious "If the Shoe Fits." He was the go-to session man for many, many other artists; he also had a fondness for country that leed to a couple of albums as "Hank Wilson," which are pretty darn good too. His 1972 album Carney is one of my few "perfect" recordings -- a beautiful and coherent journey.
