Raoul Coutard

Groundbreaking cinematographer and director -- via the Guardian. One of my personal favorites, he shot many of the most important French New Wave films, helping to create classics such as "Breathless," "Shoot the Piano Player," "A Woman is a Woman," "My Life  to Live," Jules and Jim," "Contempt," "Band of Outsiders," "Alphaville," "Pierre le Fou," "Week End," "Z," and "First Name: Carmen." An amazing body of work.
