Former MLB All-Star -- via the New York Times. AKA The Big Bopper. A remarkably consistent first baseman and outfielder who was a great power hitter. Also a funny guy who cheered up the clubhouse! And, in a cultural note, the character Sam on the TV Sitco "Cheers," a former MLB pitcher, is supposed to have served up a pitch that Lee May knocked out of old Memorial Stadium in Baltimore.
