George Shephard 'Shep' Houghton
Actor, singer, and dancer; the epitome of the 'background artist', the "Last of the Nobodies' -- via westernboothill.blogspot.com. He was a largely non-speaking extra in nearly 200 films and TV shows, beginning with von Sternberg's silent crime masterpiece "Underworld" in 1927, all the way to an "Ellery Queen" episode in 1976. He danced in many Busby Berkeley pictures, "The Wizard of Oz," "Gone With the Wind," "The Big Sleep," "Some Like It Hot," "Spartacus," and many more.
