John Young
The consummate astronaut -- via the New York Times. He flew in Gemini 3, and commanded Gemini 10. He piloted the command module in Apollo 10. He commanded Apollo 16 and walked (and drove) on the moon. He commanded the first space shuttle. He was a cowboy, and the first man to smuggle a corned beef sandwich into space. One of my heroes.
