Roger Henri Charlier

The original 'Male War Bride'; the professor of earth sciences, writer, and consultant who, in World War II, was Belgian major. He fell in love with Catherine, an American nurse, and the bureaucratic mishaps they encountered as  they attempted to return to America together after the was became a comic memoir, penned under the name of Henri Rochard, as 'I Was an Alien Spouse of Female Military Personnel Enroute to the United States Under Public Law 271 of the Congress.' Somehow, this became a classic late-period screwball comedy flm directed by Howrd Hawks -- 'I Was a Male War Bride.' (They remained married until her death.)
