Aleksey Batalov

Leading Soviet actor -- via Meduza. He was the poster boy for the expression of dynamic, brooding, yet social-realist character in Russian Cold War film. He was the tragic hero Boris in Kalatozov's 1957 masterpiece "The Cranes Are Flying"; he appeared in "The Lady with the Dog," and Menshov's "Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears."
